Aso Rock quiet as Buhari continues rest..read more!!

The Presidential Villa was all quiet yesterday as President  Muhammadu Buhari continued his well deserved rest after a six-hour flight from London, where he had spent the last 50 days on an extended vacation based on doctors advice.

The President had appealed to states and other groups that had planned to lead delegations to welcome him to shelve the idea but rather use the time to pray for the unity of the nation.

“Rather than send delegations to Abuja to welcome me May I appeal to our people to continue to pray for the country’s unity, progress and prosperity. I thank you very much and may God bless our country.”
Buhari had said when he met with members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), all heads of security agencies and the governors of Kogi, Yahaya Bello and Zamfara, Abdulaziz Yari that, he got the best treatment and he felt better adding, “All I will need is to do further follow ups within some weeks”.
The President had also said he deliberately returned on a weekend so as to have a well deserved rest, and added that the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would continue to work.
“I deliberately came back towards the weekend, so that the Vice President will continue and I will continue to rest. Thank You very much.”
While thanking Nigerians for their prayers and best wishes, the President  had also expressed his full commitment to serving the nation and protecting the rights of all Nigerians. He said, “The best way for me to pay you all is to rededicate myself to serving you, protecting your interest and keeping your trust. I thank you very much. I feel much better now.”
Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina through his twitter handle @FemAdesina had also said President Buhari will  on Monday transmit a letter to National Assembly on his return to the country, saying that would officially mark his return and resumption of his duties.
“PMB will Monday transmit letter to N’ Assembly on his return to the country. That makes his return to work formally, and constitutionally.”

Buhari had arrived 8.37 am at the Presidential Villa and emerged from  the Presidential chopper 8.42 am
