ABA— National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Martin Agbaso, has extended a hand of fellowship to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State and other stakeholders of the party, to join him to rebuild the party in line with the vision of its founding fathers.
Agbaso, who was reacting to the verdict of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, affirming his position as national chairman of the party, said APGA has lost focus and needs the support of all members to get it back on track as a national party.
The national chairman, who spoke through the party’s acting national publicity secretary, Prince Ukaegbu, said APGA was being rebuilt from what he described as Oye’s visionless administration, which led to the exodus of eminent members of the party, including the heir to the Ojukwu dynasty, Emeka, who abandoned APGA for UPP. He described the October 5, 2016, decision of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, to sack the former national chairman, Victor Oye as the turning point for APGA’s rebirth, stressing that the party has been returned to the masses.
“I enjoin Governor Willie Obiano and other stakeholders of the party to join me rebuild APGA in line with the vision of its founding fathers. With the verdict of the Court of Appeal affirming me as the national chairman, APGA has been returned to the people. There is no winner, no vanquish; APGA won. With the final resolution of this impediment, the NWC of our party will meet to roll out in the coming days programme and timetable leading to the nomination of our candidate for the November 18th gubernatorial poll in Anambra state.
We will ensure free and credible primaries, there will be no automatic ticket to any aspirant, “ He commended the judges who sat on the Appeal for refusing to be deceived by the antics of the detractors of the party who had continued to propagate the lies that Agbaso ascended the leadership of APGA through a donation of an order of mandamus of an Enugu High court, stressing that Oye was lawfully removed in a duly convened meeting in line with the extant provisions of the Constitution of APGA.
Agbaso further commended the membership and supporters of the party for their patience and support while the crisis lasted.
