Navy Hands Over Five Suspected Oil Thieves To EFCC.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, July 6, 2017 took over investigation and prosecution of five suspected oil thieves handed over to it by the Nigerian Navy, NN Pathfinder , Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The suspects are : Fredrick Akuro (Captain of the ship), Emea Anthony, Chika Charles, Unyime Okokon and Emmanuel Bassey. They were arrested onboard a barge : MV DE BLESSING loaded with 300,000 litres of products, suspected to be refined Automated Gas Oil, AGO.
While handing over the suspects and the vessel to the EFCC, Navy Captain V. D Choji said men and officers of the Navy, interdicted and arrested the suspects on board MV DE BLESSING on 22 April, 2017 around Makoba Jetty in Port Harcourt. " They were trans-shipping products suspected to be Automated Gas Oil, AGO, without authorisation", he said
